Andrew Grero is a West Australian painter and mural artist whose work can be described as colourful, bold and free. He draws creative inspiration from his varied interests including space, travel, the built environment, portraiture, basketball, and native fauna and flora. He explores subtleties of colour seen in light, accentuating their saturation for great effect.

Born and raised in Perth to Sri Lankan parents, Andrew’s work has been influenced by Arthur Boyd, Jeremy Geddes, Eric Yahnker and Bob Dylan.  He has been involved in community art from a young age, producing works for and in collaboration with community members that have been exhibited in Kununurra (Aus), Bristol (UK) and locally around his hometown of Bassendean.

In 2021 Andrew was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Since his diagnosis, Andrew has continued to grow as an artist and has completed an increasing number of privately commissioned works for clients across the Perth metropolitan area. Commissions include mural projects for the Australian Defence Force in Karakatta, Ashdale Secondary College and a 23-metre-long mural for West Coast Suspensions in Bassendean that has received widespread acclaim in the media.

Andrew’s work is driven by core values of sustainability, inclusivity, quality and connection. He continues to evolve his craft, expanding his practice and career as an artist through exploration of new concepts and approaches. His passion is to inspire others and reframe the idea of what it means to live and thrive with Parkinson’s.

I would like to acknowledge the continuing culture and connection of the Whadjuk Noongar people, traditional custodians of the land I live and create on and I offer my respects to Elders past, present and future.
